This annual award recognizes a legislator who embodies an active and collaborative approach to finding positive outcomes for Ag Council members. Senator Ashby represents those qualities and more.
“Ag Council is thrilled to honor Senator Ashby with this distinguished award. She is a tenacious leader who fights for her district. When presented with policy issues, Senator Ashby has stepped in to advocate for our members. Her actions have made a difference, and her steadfast resolve is an asset in the Legislature,” Ag Council President Emily Rooney said.
“We also appreciate her honest, straightforward nature, and we look forward to continuing to work with Senator Ashby and her staff in the years to come,” Rooney said.
Among her roles in the Legislature, Senator Ashby serves as Assistant Majority Leader, and is chair of the Business, Professions, and Economic Development Committee. She is also a member of the following committees: Energy, Utility and Communications, Governmental Organization, Revenue and Tax, and Judiciary, in addition to others.
Senator Ashby represents Senate District 8, which encompasses the vast majority of Sacramento County, including Elk Grove, North Highlands, Rio Linda and Sacramento. She previously served on the Sacramento City Council for 12 years.
