Ag Council presented Senator Steve Glazer (D-Contra Costa) with the Influential Legislator of the Year Award during the trade association’s legislative conference in Sacramento today.
This annual award recognizes a legislator who embodies a collaborative approach to finding positive outcomes for agriculture and all of California. Senator Glazer represents those qualities and more.
“Senator Glazer is a pragmatic and independent thinker. He does not seek the limelight and works diligently behind the scenes to make a difference on some of the toughest legislation,” Ag Council President Emily Rooney said.
“We appreciate that Senator Glazer forges strong relationships with colleagues and works strategically to achieve critical results for agriculture.”
“He also goes above and beyond to provide a platform for agriculture in our outreach and education efforts. He does this by leading agricultural tours with senators and our members, along with others in agriculture. The tours are an excellent mechanism to communicate on-farm and food processing policy issues with senators and candidates.”
“Ag Council thanks Senator Glazer for the leadership he demonstrates. His efforts have been tremendously beneficial,” Rooney said.
Senator Glazer represents Senate District 7 comprising the majority of Contra Costa County and a portion of Alameda County. Cities in the district include: Antioch, Concord, Danville, Discovery Bay, Dublin, Lafayette, Livermore, Moraga, Orinda, Pleasanton, San Ramon, and Walnut Creek.
Senator Glazer previously served as a city council member and three-time mayor of Orinda, as well as a former senior advisor to Governor Jerry Brown.

He is chair of the Elections and Constitutional Amendment Committee and serves on the Agriculture, Education, Governmental Organization, and Insurance Committees.
Congratulations to Senator Glazer upon receiving the 2022 Influential Legislator Award.
