Governor Gavin Newsom recently finalized decisions regarding legislation sent to his desk by the State Legislature. The governor and his staff completed their work on October 13 – one day ahead of the October 14 deadline to sign or veto bills.

For the over 1,000 bills that legislators approved and sent to the governor in 2023, the governor’s veto rate was 14.9 percent.
